Fonts, OpenDyslexic and reading aids

On the prompter's Text page pick the face (OpenDyslexic is built in, or any installed font), the size, margins, spacing and colors. Reading line & screen places and shapes the reading line and adds a focus band.

  1. Choose the face. Under Typeface: System, Rounded, Serif, Mono, OpenDyslexic, or More fonts for any font installed on the device.
  2. Set size, margins and spacing. Text size runs from 18 to 160 pt (48 by default). Margins from 0 to 40 percent (8 by default). Line spacing from 0.9 to 2.5. Letter spacing Normal, Wide or Wider.
  3. Set the colors. Background and text color take any color; black and white by default. The app's own note: black cuts glare on a beam splitter.
  4. Add a focus band if you lose your place. Focus band Soft or Strong dims the lines away from the reading line and keeps three lines bright.
  5. Place the reading line. On Reading line & screen: Show reading line, its position from 20 to 80 percent of the way down (38 by default), its shape (Edge marks, Arrow, Line or Bar), its size and its brightness.

Text settings are saved with each script, so a script opens the way you left it. The reading line and Keep controls visible belong to the device. If a script uses a font the device doesn't have, it falls back to System.

If that didn't work

If a font you picked doesn't show on another device, install it there too. Write to us.
