Teleprompter for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch

Eyes on the lens. One take.

Cutvey Teleprompter is a teleprompter app for presenters, creators, corporate and interview shooters and video teams. It keeps pace with your voice and records right under the lens.

A sample take: a deck's notes become cues, the iPad records, voice follow eases off, the Watch moves to the next cue and stops the take, and captions and markers come out.

Voice follow

It keeps pace with you.

Press play and read. Speed up and the words keep up; slow down for a pause and the scroll eases off with you. Apple's speech recognition runs on your device, so your voice never leaves it.

Works in the languages Apple supports on your device. You still press play and stop, and it never jumps ahead.

Voice follow on: you slow down for a line, and the speed eases from 1.2 to 0.9.

Record on iPhone and iPad

Read right under the lens.

Your script sits in a short strip beside the camera, so your eyes stay on the lens while you record. Shoot in 1080p or 4K at 24, 25 or 30 frames a second, and every take lands in your Photos.

The chip on screen names the microphone you're using and warns you if an external one drops mid-take.

The script sits in a strip by the lens while you record. The take goes to Photos.

The remote

Run it from wherever you're standing.

Tap your Apple Watch for the next cue or a slower read, with the time left on your wrist. The Watch works with the iPhone app.

  • Another iPhone, iPad or Mac joins as a remote, a monitor or an editor who can fix a line while you read.
  • Any browser on the same network becomes a remote with the four-digit code, with no app to install.
  • Pedals and clickers, keyboards and presentation remotes work with the keys you choose.
Next cue on the Apple Watch moves the prompter to the next cue.

Several screens, one script

The rig, the monitor and the producer, in step.

One device runs the script and the others follow it, up to eight at once. Hand the session to another device without stopping, and plan the whole show as a rundown that moves to the next script on its own.

Sessions stay on your own network and never pass through a Cutvey server. Pair only devices you trust.

The host shows a four-digit code, the joining device types it, and every device follows one script.

In a rig

Mirrored for the glass.

Mirror the words left to right or top to bottom for a beam-splitter rig. Send a clean feed with no controls to the display under the glass, with its own mirror setting, and it keeps the same words as the screen in your hand.

On iPhone and iPad the feed goes to a connected display. On the Mac it is a window you drag to the second screen.

On the Mac

On a call, read under your camera.

Call mode shrinks the prompter to a strip right under your Mac's camera, so you look at the people you're talking to. It can hide itself from screen sharing too. Run a quick test call first, because some apps still capture it.

Also on the Mac: a clean feed window for a second display, keep on top, and the Contour ShuttlePro jog wheel.

Call mode shrinks the prompter to a strip under the Mac's camera, so your eyes stay near the lens.

Your script, as it is

Drop in the file you already have.

Word, PDF, plain text, Final Draft and Fountain come straight in. A PowerPoint brings its speaker notes, with a cue for every slide, so the next cue is the next slide.

A PDF comes in as plain text. Scanned pages have no text to bring in.

After the take

Captions and markers for the edit.

Export a caption file timed from the read, and every cue you reached as markers for Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve. Your editor starts with the script already lined up.

Captions use your script's words, timed from the scroll. When you recorded a take, they line up with its first frame.

After the take: an .srt timed from the read, and every cue you reached as markers.

One purchase covers every device you prompt from.

Questions

Does voice follow need an internet connection?

No. It uses the speech recognition built into your device, for the languages Apple supports there. What you say never leaves the device, and nothing is recorded unless you press record.

Can it start and stop the scroll by itself?

You press play and stop. Voice follow only adjusts the speed around the pace you set, and it never jumps to another place in the script.

Will it work in a beam-splitter rig?

Yes. Mirror the text left to right or top to bottom, and send a clean feed with its own mirror setting to a display under the glass.

Do I pay again for the Mac?

No. One purchase covers iPhone, iPad and Mac on the same Apple Account, and the Apple Watch remote comes with the iPhone app.

Does a session go through a Cutvey server?

No. Devices talk to each other on your own network or over a cable, and nothing passes through Cutvey. Pair only devices you trust, on a network you trust.

Can I record on the Mac?

Camera recording is on iPhone and iPad. On the Mac you get call mode, a clean feed window for a second display and the jog wheel.
