Export captions and edit markers

After a run, export an .srt caption file timed from the scroll, and every cue you reached as markers for Premiere Pro (CSV) or DaVinci Resolve (EDL).

  1. Open the export after a run. The run's timing is kept, so the export knows when each paragraph crossed the reading line.
  2. Set the captions. Choose the phrase length (10 words by default) and how long a caption lingers (5 seconds by default). A sentence always ends a caption. Tick start at zero if you want the first caption at 00:00:00. A preview shows the first captions before you save.
  3. Export the markers. Every cue you reached becomes a marker. Pick CSV in Premiere Pro's marker columns, or a CMX 3600 EDL as DaVinci Resolve writes it, at 23.976, 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 50, 59.94 or 60 frames a second (non-drop-frame timecode).

Where the timings come from

The captions are the script's own words, timed from when each paragraph passed the reading line and split into phrases by length. Nothing is transcribed from your voice, so if you changed a line on the day, edit that caption. When you recorded a take, the captions line up with its first frame.

If that didn't work

If the captions drift late, check that the take and the run started together. Write to us.
